Imagine our astonishment when we came upon this picture since we had never seen a golden retriever with a birthmark. Appreciating how special this mark is doesn't depend on your love of dogs. A pet owner's golden has a birthmark whereby one side of their dog's face is black. It's quite unusual; we have only ever seen dogs of these kinds with all yellow or golden hue. The birthmark divides the face in nearly exactly straight line and makes a strong contrast against the dog's conventional golden coat. Somatic mutation is the unusual genetic event wherein some of the animal's cells generate different colour than the others. This doggo still has that same ridiculous smile golden retrievers are known for, even with the mark. We count on random street people complimenting it in all kinds of ways. Though it doesn't damage the dog's behaviour or health in any sense, it does set them out among other golden retrievers. Because of their odd colouring, this specific dog has become somewhat well-known in their neighbourhood and on social media.
